Enrique Alegre received his BSc. in Industrial Engineering at the University of Cantabria and his PhD in Computer Science at the University of León. He is the director of the Research group Artificial Vision and Pattern Recognition of the University of León, and he has been the Principal Investigator in 10 research projects in public and competitive calls and as a member or director in other 25 with companies or other organizations.
He has been co-inventor of 7 patents, 5 of which are licenced to companies, and 4 intellectual property registries. He has also been the co-author in more than 140 papers, 25 of which have been published in indexed journals. In more than 20 years working in Academia, he has done 10 international research visits: one of them a sabbatical year at the University of California and other 8 in Groningen (The Netherlands), DCU (Ireland), Surrey (UK), Malta or Edimburgo (UK), amongst others.
